Why You Should Always Have Your Windows Remodelled Before Putting Your Home Up For Sale

Construction & Contractors Blog

When it comes to selling a house or any property, you should always want to maximize the amount you can get by completing little upgrades here and there. These small changes can have exponentially big impacts on the actual sale price of your home, and nowhere is this more clear than with exterior window remodeling. The windows are one of the first things any potential buyer will see as they get to your home, so it is important that they are in good condition and attractive to look at. Here are three ways to tell that your windows need a remodeling job as soon as possible.

Rust

If you have any visible signs of rust on your exterior window frames, even if it is just a little bit, then you need to remodel. Rust is a killer as it is virtually impossible to completely remove, and it can spread all over your frame in quick order. Not only does this combination make it hard to make your house look nice for home inspections, but it can even be a structural concern for the window. The last thing you want is for a potential buyer to come in with their own expert and discover you hid rust in the windows from them. Call an exterior window remodeling service and have the confidence in your home when showing it.

Chipped Frames

Apart from metal frames, the most common material found in windows is wood. Wood is a fantastic material that does look amazing when used correctly in the exterior window frames of your house, but it does come with certain risks. Older wooden frames are more susceptible to water damage than metal alternatives, and this can be seen through small to large chips on the edges of your window frames. These might not be as noticeable as rust, but for any savvy buyer, the damage will be seen straight away and could put them off.

Strange Style

Sometimes the problem with your windows isn't even structural, its design related. It is not uncommon for a home to have very strange windows that were part of a renovation project years ago but look totally out of place with the rest of the home. Perhaps you have farmstead-style windows on a minimalistic home or some other combination of clashing styles. You should want your home to be as blended as possible, and considering how large a feature the windows are from the outside, they are one of the most important things to get right.

If you have any of these issues with your windows, reach out to a professional who provides exterior window remodeling services.

Those Cold, January Nights

When I was in college, I lived in an old house just south of the university campus with five other girls. When we came back from Christmas break, the heater was broken. The beginning of January was the coldest time of the year, and because it was the weekend, the heating company couldn't come fix it for a few days. My roommates and I pulled our mattresses into the front room and slept all together to keep warm. Two weeks later, our heater broke again! That time we ended up getting a completely new furnace. Needless to say, we got to be good friends with the heating contractor that month, and it was a good experience that led to the creation of this blog.
