Is your roof ready to take on the cold and wet winter season? If not, then there is a good chance you can see some costly home damages this upcoming winter. To ensure you get your home in the right condition, you may need to obtain repairs and maintenance services. If you want reliable and great quality repairs, you will find it best to hire a professional roofing contractor, as he or she will be able to:
Replace Missing Shingles:
Cracked or missing shingles can play a critical role in the way your roof holds up this winter. Without durable shingles, your home is at high risk of dealing with moisture damages. Your home will also have poor insulation, as shingles help keep the warmth inside of your home. So, by having a roof contractor inspect your roof, you will be able to have missing or damaged shingles replaced, so your roof can have a better chance at avoiding water damage and provide your home with better insulation.
Clear out and Stabilize Your Rain Gutter:
Having your rain gutters clean for the winter season is important, as this helps reduce the amount of snow and rain that sits on your roof. With a clear rain gutter, the snow and rain will have a proper exit path off from your roof, so you can avoid icicle buildup or too much weight on your roof. Not only is it important to have your contractor clean your gutters, but you will also want your gutters leveled correctly. This will ensure the rain and melted snow fall off your roof efficiently and don't get backed up in your gutters.
Restore The Foundation of Your Roof:
If the foundation of your roof has minor cracks, the snow and cold weather can easily cause these cracks to grow larger. Not only do you have to worry about the size of the cracks increasing, but these cracks will also let in water, which can expose your home to moisture damages. Your roofing contractor will be able to resolve this by laying down a roof cement, which will seal any crack and prevent it from becoming larger.
With repairs and services like these, your roof will be ready to take on the upcoming winter conditions, which can help you avoid the cost of major home damages. So, before it's too late, be sure that you have your roof inspected and repaired to keep your home safe this winter. 30 January 2015
When I was in college, I lived in an old house just south of the university campus with five other girls. When we came back from Christmas break, the heater was broken. The beginning of January was the coldest time of the year, and because it was the weekend, the heating company couldn't come fix it for a few days. My roommates and I pulled our mattresses into the front room and slept all together to keep warm. Two weeks later, our heater broke again! That time we ended up getting a completely new furnace. Needless to say, we got to be good friends with the heating contractor that month, and it was a good experience that led to the creation of this blog.
